What about a platform for civic analysis? Often public servants don't even know what the problems are or whether solutions are working

Should the government bid against other providers to provide certain services? In some cases, NGOs or private sector can do it better.

There's already contracting out of services (think private trash pickup or janatorial services at city hall)

Agreed. Also the fact that all the pieces don't really fit together. Who runs education? Sup of public instruction? BOE? DOE? Secretary?

Good point - monitoring effectiveness is a widespread problem. First step would be to set out acceptable metrics to measure what we value.

Some of that work is already done through existing requirements for annual financial statements ;)

I think we need regular town hall meetings. Alot of people are intimidated by city council meetings and those are tough for many.

Needs a virtual tie in though. After work the idea of sitting through an entire multi-hour meeting to hear one item sucks

Absolutely! Montessori high school had kids on the farm; doing real work, solving problems. Could adapt to urban needs/issues.

The Internet is different because it is more free yet more chaotic. Less guided and controlled by the influence of big money.

Don't necessarily disagree but the internet seems pretty guided by say Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, etc
